EDL-RECs are OneBox Solutions and absolute "no brainer" – you dont need Win/Mac hosts or extra operator.

Operation

  • Status information is updated continuously.

  • Metadata can be modified at any time.

  • EDLs can be exported while recording.

  • The archive provides access to previous productions.

  • Timecode formats (PAL, NTSC (DF & NDF)) are recognized automatically, interruptions do not stop recording

Configuration

  • Equipped with up to 200 inputs/contacts

  • Input assignments for common vision mixers ie preloaded (modifiable) pin assignments.

  • Newer models can be added at any time. Regularly -used production configurations can be stored in user memory.

  • Individual pin views simplify installation.

Pre and Offset settings mean everything is ALWAYS IN SYNC!

Wireless cameras, vision mixers, DVEs, multiple timecode generators, synchronizers, …
are just a few reasons why multi-camera EDLs are not always automatically in sync.

While generating the EDLs in the EDL-REC every separate source can be given an individual pre or post offset time - in frames.

Connections

  • Screw-on/lockable connectors ensure secure connections in demanding (OB) day-to-day operation.

  • 4 x 50-pole D-sub inputs enable all relevant tally lights to be recorded even if they are attached to different outputs of the vision mixer (19” version).

  • The Tally Out allows an additional configuration and function check (19” version).

  • The UPS battery can be accessed for easy maintenance through the battery compartment in the cover (19” version).

Serial Tally Input

  • Sony has always renounced tally switching outputs with its large consoles. You either buy their optional tally boards or use Sony’s serial tally system. Depending on the workload, hardware and software of your control systems these outputs may lead to greater time variations for the tallies. We have developed a serial tally input for the EDL-Recorder in order to record cuts and transitions with the necessary precision when working with Sony vision mixers without their tally board(s) option.
  • Our serial interface runs reliably, autonomously and accurately on the "Serial Tally Port" or "Editor Panel" terminal.
  • 1 x 9 pin D-Sub Input for Sony Serial Tally Port Protocol (RS-422).
  • Can be retrofitted and can be combined with parallel inputs (19” version).

Frequently asked questions

An EDL channel means a multiclip source written into the EDL-REC EDLs.

For example, an EDL-REC blk has 8 physical tally inputs, but can write up to 10 EDL channels into the EDLs.

Tally inputs and EDL channels are fixed to each other.

Sources cut to PGM – without tally signalling to the EDL-REC – such as players/feeds/servers, cameras without separate recording or stills/black/bars/... are internally recorded as "No Tally" events in the EDL-REC.

When generating an EDL, "No Tally" can then be assigned in the EDL-REC blk, for example EDL channel 9.

EDL channel 9 could then be used, for example, with the PGM recording in the multiclip.

More than 2 tallys incoming at the same time in the EDL-REC – as for example with DVE/PiP effects – are internally recorded as "Too many Tallys" events in the EDL-REC.

When generating an EDL, "Too many Tallys" can then be assigned in the EDL-REC blk, for example EDL channel 10.

EDL channel 10 could then be used, for example, with a Clean/AUX recording in the multiclip.

"No Tally" and "Too many Tallys" events can also be assigned to an EDL channel together.

We recommend inserting a PGM recording in the EDLs for this.

For example, an EDL-REC blk with 10 EDL channels can generate:

- EDLs with 4 cameras

- EDLs with 4 cameras + PGM

- EDLs with 8 cameras + PGM & Clean.
